ACTION ALERT ** ACTION ALERT ** ACTION ALERT
Congress returned from its summer recess today. The
so-called "assault weapon" and full-capacity magazine bans
sunset (expire) at midnight on Monday, 13 September, 2004.
Our "window of risk" is extremely narrow, BUT IT STILL
EXISTS.
The Brady Campaign, the Violence Policy Center and other
gun control groups are promoting a “Call the President”
campaign on Thursday, 9 September to push for extension
and/or expansion of the bans.
NOW IS THE TIME to call, e-mail, fax or write your
elected officials (Representative and Senators and President
Bush) and urge them to resist such a move. Two separate
federally-funded studies have shown that the ban has had no
effect on crime rates.
Additional points worth making about the "ban" may be
