Kerry & Hunting

Left: This appears to be a dog. Notice the hump in the dog's back and the straight tail. This dog in running - in the opposite direction.

Right: Notice Kerry's thumb wrapped firmly over the barrel blocking the sights. There were no reports of Kerry burning his hand so he must not have fired.

Also: No eye protection in sight.

Analysis: Kerry playing prey for hunting photographers.

Note: If Kerry is such a great hunter, how come he doesn't know to keep his finger off of the trigger when he is not about to use it?

And why was Kerry there?

Fall 2003 - John Kerry gets a hunting license and takes two birds. The articles written refer to 'taking a break from the campaign'. Photographs are taken and articles published referring to his expertise. The website makes extensive use of what probably took no more than one hour out of Kerry's time. So, was this a 'break' or a vital part of the campaign? It certainly was not impromptu. He was accompanied by locals, also with guns. The Secret Service knew about this well in advance and had probably run background checks on the locals. They would not have allowed it any other way.

The real question is: How does John Kerry vote with respect to hunting and 'animal rights'? The short story is reflected in how the antihunting lobbies rate him and how prohunting organizations write about him. The antihunting lobby groups universally give John Kerry a 100% rating. Prohunting groups, such as the NRA and  The Hunting Report give Kerry flunking grades.

The PAC of the Humane Society of the US, who opposes all hunting, has endorsed John Kerry in the presidential race. Check out their announcement.

News Flash - John Kerry enjoys deer hunting:

"I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind. That's hunting," said Kerry. (Craig Gilbert, "Bringing candidate to life," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 7/5/04)

Yea, right.

The Hunting Report & The Conservation Force

For those of you unfamiliar with The Hunting Report, it is a newsletter providing local condition and provider information to hunters within the US and internationally. The Conservation Force is an organization working for the protection of wildlife and hunting worldwide. They have joined forces to produce and distribute an article on John Kerry. See the June 2004 supplement on John Kerry linked here. Many thanks to Don Causey for providing this information.

Update 5/26/04 - Antihunting forces, including the Humane Society of the US, are pushing for a ban on importation of grizzly bear trophies from Canada. Go here for more information. How would John Kerry vote? We can only surmise with his 100% rating from the HSUS.
